21st-May-2012 12:09 am - New U of T email
whatever
Just a random question, I know that June 1st the u of t email switches over to the other email. Just wondering, has anyone switched over yet, and do your emails from the old account automatically switch over to the new one? I have saved emails in my account I don't want to lose so before I switch I want to make sure I can either save them or they are switched over to the new account.

Thanks!

Has anyone ever taken PHYB01H3: Modern Physics for Non-Scientists?

I'm interested in this course because it sounds similar to one a friend of mine took at another university called Physics for the Humanities.  She described it as "like art history, where you study the history and artwork itself but aren't creating anything".  I'm wondering if this class is similar - would someone who's an English/History double major with absolutely horrendous maths skills be able to take this class?  The description is kind of vague, it doesn't have any mathmatical or scientific prerequisites (the only prereq's are "any 4.0 credits") so I'm not sure if this would be a good course for me to take as an elective.

I'm really interested in physics, especially chaos theory, but again, I'm not good at maths at all.

While I'm here, are there any St George students who know of a class downtown that covers what I'm looking for?  Physics history and context without the practice, basically.  I wouldn't be opposed to a little bit of extra travel time for an interesting elective.

Here's the description from the calendar, by the way:

A conceptual overview of some of the most interesting advances in physics and the intellectual background in which they occurred. The interrelationship of the actual practice of physics and its cultural and intellectual context is emphasized. (Space time; Symmetries; Quantum Worlds; Chaos.)

Thanks for any help you can give me, guys! :)
2nd-May-2012 04:49 pm - Probation as part-time student?
#uno
Hello, my friend wanted to post this here but she doesn't have an LJ account so Im helping her out. Can you be on probation as a part-time student? She took courses that equaled to 2.5 F.C.E but her CGPA is 1.3. Apparently when searching online, she saw that you can be on probation, if you took courses that equaled 3.5 F.C.E or more with a minimum cgpa of 1.6, but there isn't any info for F.C.Es below that amount.
1st-May-2012 10:57 pm - Summer OSAP

Hey, just wondering what's up with the summer OSAP applications.  I handed in my form about a month ago and was told it should appear on the OSAP website within two weeks.  It's not there and school starts on Monday.  I also got an email saying that a change has been made to my OSAP application, but nothing new appeared on the website and I checked through my old applications and nothing was different with them either (just to be safe).

I'm planning on stopping by the registrar's office sometime this week but I'm dying to know if this is normal or if I should be really concerned.

Thanks.

It's me again :)
Has anyone here taken HIS220 medieval history? If so, could you please send me the syllabus (el[dot]bilenky[at]gmail.com)? Unfortunately I cannot take it (too many extras already), but would like to have a better understanding of medieval history for my medieval art lectures next year.

Thanx a lot and enjoy the summer!
22nd-Apr-2012 04:51 pm - FAH381 Jewish Art -- old exam

Has anyone here taken FAH381 "Problems in Jewish Art" in previous years? Do you remember which images and essay questions were on the exam? Were there non-Jewish images? The old exam repository is all like "compare images displayed on screen" and "write an essay on the subject displayed on screen" -_-
whatever
Hi everyone, so I have a kinda weird question. So I am lightly considering transferring to UBC next year for various reasons. I'm taking a double major right now at U of T of Environmental Geography and Book and Media Studies. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have enough credits to meet a B and M major but I could switch it to a minor, and they don't offer it at UBC. So I was wondering... if I did transfer could I say I minored in Book and Media at U of T when I graduated? Or would not count because I would graduate at UBC? Again this is basically just a thought that came to my mind today so its really not set in stone at all.

Thanks for any info.

P.S. Does anyone know how much time in advance you need to give a school before you transfer? I am doing summer classes at U of T so I was wondering if I went to UBC how much advance notice would I need to request a transfer.

Thanks again.
