scared, worried
Is it possible to get into a course if you don't have the pre-reqs? Mine is kinda weird, because on the Book and Media Website it says the course I enrolled does not have any prereqs but then in the Course Calander it says it does. I also enrolled in another course that says prereqs or premission from the instructor... So would I just email the instructor and ask to be in the course? Does Rosi kick you off if they find out you don't have a prereq or would it be the prof that would kick you out of the course? Should I email the Book and Media Studies program advisor or the Aboriginal Studies advisor in regards to the first course and prereqs?

Sorry for so many questions, I just don't want to be screwed later on.

you should email the prof who teaches that particular course. usually the prof = sufficient authority to grant you permission (and if you make a compelling argument why you should be allowed into the course, they usually don't mind. I never was refused permission so far). if not, the prof will know who to contact on your behalf. (it may be the undergraduate coordinator of that department if enrolment is generally problematic for student in that program, not the Book-Media coordinator).

I believe prereq enforcement is a feature that a department can launch on ROSI, but I am not sure of the technicalities. if usually gets activated a week before classes begin. I was kicked out like this once. if you get kicked out, you will not be able to re-add that course on ROSI, and it will be very annoying to make someone else add this course for you later on. so get this permission asap to be safe, and if you still get kicked out, write to the program coordinator with the proof-email of permission, this is the person who can add you back in.

(you should probably also email the person responsible for putting the wrong info in the brochure.)

another technique to get into a course w/o prereqs is to add it during 2nd week of class. nobody cares about prereqs at this point, from what a prof told me.
